still chasing ghosts.

3/9/2007
i'm starting to realize the nature of my research isn't exactly doing me any favors in this town. i bumped into a 'friend' from high school in the gas station today. she took one look at my jacket and said “still chasing ghosts, hugo? you're like Red Creek's Mulder!”

for the record, I'll take that as a compliment. personally, i think i'm a bit more of a sam winchester, but to each their own. but also, it's not ghosts. not aliens either (probably,) just things that don't add up. events that no one's willing to investigate because the truth would be too inconvenient. like how officer dempsey “accidentally” discharged his weapon last month and then left town two days later without collecting his pension.

or how the town's water tower used to be painted with the year 1862 but now it says 1863. now THAT one's been eating at me. I don't know how it was possible or if it's just some senior prank. but am I going crazy?

I get it some people don't want answers, they want stability. they want the diner and bonfires and football games. not disappearances and weird dates painted on the water tower. but I'm not here to pretend like everything's fine. I'm going to figure this out.
